What the signature itinerary covers

This is the route we run for guests who want the strongest wildlife outcome in five days without compromising on luxury. It is not a coach tour and it is not a half-day taxi loop. The cap is six guests per private group so the open vehicles are not shared. Children eight and above are welcome; below eight we recommend the day-only variant of the itinerary so the late return from the night safari is not an issue.

The five days move through three encounters and two villa bases. Day one is arrival and Ubud villa welcome. Day two is the full Bali Safari and Marine Park experience including the night programme. Day three is the Mason Adventures ethical elephant morning followed by an afternoon rice-paddy lunch. Day four transfers the base to Uluwatu for clifftop sunset. Day five is morning beach club, spa, and airport transfer. The itinerary stretches comfortably to seven nights for honeymooners or families, and shrinks to three nights for guests on a tighter window.

Day 1 — Arrival, Ubud villa, welcome dinner

Private airport pickup at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) with cool-towel, water, and Wi-Fi hotspot in vehicle. Direct transfer to the assigned Ubud villa — usually a four-bedroom rice-paddy estate in Sayan or Ubud Centre. Welcome dinner is in-villa with a private chef preparing Balinese-Mediterranean tasting plates. Spa therapist on call. The day is deliberately low-energy because day two starts at 06:30.

Day 2 — Bali Safari and Marine Park (day + night)

Departure from Ubud at 07:00 with breakfast in vehicle. Arrival at Bali Safari and Marine Park, Gianyar by 08:30 — first vehicles of the morning, before the coach groups. Open-side jeep safari covers the African Savannah, Sumatran rainforest, and Ranthambore tiger zones. We schedule the conservation talk at the Sumatran tiger enclosure and the orangutan feeding window before lunch. Lunch is in-park at the Tsavo Lion restaurant overlooking the lion enclosure. Afternoon is Komodo dragon and elephant encounter, followed by a villa-return rest window before the night safari at 18:30. Return to Ubud villa for late supper.

The night safari is the differentiator. Most concierges sell the day ticket and stop. We always brief and book the night programme as a single combined ticket so guests do not need to repurchase entry, and we time the dinner to the night-safari’s included Mara River feast which most independent visitors miss because they did not realise it was bundled. Read more in our night safari vs day experience briefing.

Day 3 — Mason Adventures elephant morning

Departure from Ubud villa at 08:00. Drive forty minutes north to Taro village. Mason Adventures Elephant Park briefing on welfare protocols — the rescue history of the herd, the no-chains policy, the no-tourist-riding policy that replaced the riding programme years ago, and the welfare audit standards. Two-hour elephant interaction includes feeding, walking alongside the herd, and a bath in the river. Lunch is at the on-site restaurant overlooking the elephant pool. Return to Ubud villa for afternoon spa treatment in-villa.

For guests who specifically want to understand why we picked Mason over the other elephant operators in Bali, the ethical elephant encounter guide compares welfare frameworks, audit access, and herd histories operator by operator.

Day 4 — Uluwatu cliff villa transfer + sunset temple

Slow morning at Ubud villa, breakfast on the rice-paddy deck, then a 10:00 transfer to Uluwatu — about ninety minutes via the Mantra bypass and Bukit Peninsula. Uluwatu villa is typically a four or five-bedroom clifftop with infinity pool. Afternoon at the villa for swim and rest. 17:00 transfer to Uluwatu Temple for the sunset Kecak fire dance. Late dinner at Sundara or El Kabron clifftop, depending on availability and group size.

Day 5 — Beach club, spa, departure

Morning beach club at Karma Beach or a private cabana at Finns Beach Club Canggu (driver routes by flight time). Spa therapist visits the villa for a closing treatment. Private airport transfer with packed snack box and Wi-Fi hotspot. Standard total drive time on day five is under two hours.

Three service tiers

All three tiers include the same wildlife encounters at full standard. The difference is the villa, the chef, and the inclusions density. We never thin the safari experience to fit a price point.

Atelier Classic

From USD 4,800 per couple, 5 days. Three-bedroom Ubud rice-paddy villa, three-bedroom Uluwatu garden villa, full safari day + night programme, Mason Adventures morning, private driver, breakfast and one in-villa dinner per day. Best for first-time Bali safari guests.

Atelier Signature

From USD 7,200 per couple, 5 days. Four-bedroom Sayan rice-paddy villa, four-bedroom Uluwatu clifftop villa, all of Classic plus private chef daily, dedicated butler, two spa treatments, sunset Kecak premium seating, and a private night-safari extension dinner. The recommended tier for honeymoon guests.

Atelier Reserve

From USD 11,500 per couple, 5 days. Five-bedroom Aman-style estate villa in Ubud, five-bedroom clifftop villa with private spa pavilion in Uluwatu, all of Signature plus a behind-the-scenes Sumatran tiger conservation briefing, a private orangutan feeding session, helicopter transfer Ubud-Uluwatu, and a private boat sunset off the Bukit cliffs. The tier we run for milestone trips.

Ethical considerations we take seriously

Wildlife tourism is the most scrutinised category of luxury travel in Indonesia and we welcome the scrutiny. Three things are non-negotiable for us. First, no riding programmes — we removed every elephant-riding option from our menu years ago and recommend Mason Adventures specifically because their welfare-led protocol replaced their riding offering with walk-alongside and bath-in-river interaction. Second, no behind-the-glass selfies with sedated animals — the Sumatran tiger encounters at Bali Safari and Marine Park happen through enclosure-side conservation talks, not staged photos. Third, full transparency on which operators are involved — we name every park, every villa, and every restaurant on the itinerary at booking, no surprises.

Our ethical elephant encounter page is the longest piece of editorial on this site because the topic deserves it. If a guest is uncomfortable with any specific element after reading, we redesign the itinerary on a single phone call.

Six guests max per group. Lead time three weeks for high-season dates.

Booking practicalities

A 30 percent deposit secures the dates. Final balance is due fourteen days before arrival. We hold villas for forty-eight hours from quote so guests can finalise flights without losing the assigned property. Lead time is three weeks for low-season, six weeks for July-August and December-January. For Easter and Christmas weeks we open the calendar in October. Cancellation policy is layered — full refund minus deposit at thirty days, fifty percent at fourteen days, no refund inside seven days, but we move dates without penalty if the cancellation is medical or flight-related.

Read our sister site baliluxuryhoneymoon.com if the safari is part of a longer honeymoon week — their planners coordinate with us directly so the safari days slot into the honeymoon itinerary without double-booked drivers.
